We have a realtor but we might buy by for sale by owner. Do we owe the realtor anything?

1stBuyer asked:

Also, if you buy via for sale by owner, would we need a realtor or can we just have a lawyer review the paperwork?

You need to read the contract you signed with the realtor. Often there is a clause that says if she is working on exclusive representation.

You may if you signed something with them. However, if the realtor did not show you this home and you didn’t sign anything with them, then go for it. Or, wait until the contract with them expires and then buy the home. If the seller is willing to pay the realtor’s commision, then you may want to go ahead with using them.

If you signed a buyer’s representation agreement, you will.

The seller pays the Realtor, let your Realtor represent you and you will not have to pay an attorney. That is, if the FSBO seller will agree to compensate your Realtor, most do.
